After a few days to mull it, my disappointment over the Swansea Half dissipated, and while I’m still annoyed not to have PBed, I have come around to the fact it was a decent effort under less than ideal conditions. Onwards and upwards. My legs recovered reasonably well, although I kept things fairly gentle during the week with just recovery and easy runs.
On Saturday I headed up to Grovelands Park for a parkrun tempo session, having decided I didn’t really fancy laps of the track where I normally do tempo runs. I aimed to run it somewhere around 20 minutes, and was pleased to finish in 20:01 despite the slightly hilly course. Pacing was very even, with each mile +/- 1 second, and the effort felt hard but controlled, so overall a good session.
Sunday then saw my usual run down to Regent’s Park and back. It was quite a warm morning, but was pleased to average 7:33 min/mi which I think might be my fastest ever pace for a long run. That brought me up to 77 miles for the week, a solid effort. Next week sees the next 10K session, 2 x 2 miles and 2 x 1 mi, hoping I can put in a solid effort there.
