Recovery run in the rain

Nice easy first run after the HM. Legs felt better by the end than at the start, which I think is a good sign! No niggles to report after the HM. Going to spend a week or two taking things easy, then I have about eight weeks to perhaps bring down my 5K and 10K PBs, before marathon training starts in December.

Easy run home

Slightly worried about the pace in the middle of this run, as the effort felt ok but heart rate seemed up and pace well down. However looking at the GPS track, the route drifted a bit which probably caused a slower pace reading. Bit disappoiting to see in my new watch, although the rest of the track seemed spot on. Hopefully just a one off!

Tempo run (4 miles @ ~7:19 pace)

First run with my new Garmin 920XT, which I managed to get super early from Wiggle, it having only been announced last week! Initial impressions are good, the screen is sharp and clear, and the accuracy seems better than the 620.

Today was my last bit of race pace running before the Royal Parks Half. These last runs never seem to go quite as well as I’d hope, and always leave me worried about hitting my race goals. Usual excuses for not quite hitting the pace I wanted – wind, net uphill route, pedestrians etc. Just have to trust the last few months of training really.

Main thing is my knee felt fine – seem to have managed that one well, continuing training while allowing it to get better, instead of running through pain and making things worse.

LSR around Worcester

Knee still giving a slight nagging ache as the mileage builds, but far better than it has been. Two week taper for the HM starts next week, so with the reduced mileage it will hopefully continue to heal well.
