Tempo run (3 miles @ ~7:32 pace)

First tempo run in a while. Legs felt pretty fresh given this is my fourth run in a row. Pace was slower than I’d have liked for the heart rate though – definitely seem to have lost a little fitness.

Not too worried about that at the moment though – main thing is the legs are still feeling good. Let’s see if that’s still the case after two more runs this weekend!

Recovery run home

I am currently in an eight week gap between the end of my half marathon plan and the start of my eighteen week marathon plan, so I’m using the time to build some time on my feet and try out a few things.

I will be using a Pfitzinger plan from Advanced Marathoning, and I’m torn between the “Up to 50 miles” and “55 to 70 miles” plans. I’m not sure if the later, with regular 70 mile weeks, might be a bit too much for me, so I’m going to test out running six times a week over the next month or so to see how my legs manage.

As part of this, I also need to make sure I’m running at the right paces – today’s recovery run is an exampe of that, very slow but with a nice low heart rate and my legs feel nice and fresh at the end.

Easy run with 10 × 12s hill sprints

My Garmin 920XT totally refused to get a satallite lock, and with the drizzly starting I couldn’t be bothered to wait around to started anyway, so distance and pace may not be quite right here.

First hill sprints in a while, legs feeling fresh and free of niggles which is nice.
